Aprilia is known to make some pretty good bikes and with their latest model they have taken it 100 steps forward. Just as the Nissan GTR offered more technology in their cars, Aprilia did the same with their motorcycle. If you have ever seen Star Wars one thing that can be remembered where the Imperial Speeder Bike’s which could fly pretty fast and high. Well an Australian engineer under the name Chris Malloy gathered up some spare cash and put together a working homemade hoverbike after a discussion about how a real flying motorcycle would look like.

It features a carbon fiber air frame which is attached to a 107 hp BMW boxer twin engine. The rotors are made from wood with carbon fiber edges and counter rotate to avoid any danger. As of now the project is at a standstill due to insufficient funds but Malloy has gotten the bike to hover while strapped to the ground.

This would definitely be something awesome to see created and he estimates a production version of this may cost around $40,000. One thing I would like to see is a race using only these.

A couple of days ago Nitro Circus made its way to the MGM Grand Arena in Vegas. If you have ever seen the show then you know some of the crazy stuff that the cast does. From jumping Barbie cars to triple back flips you can watch a quick re-cap of the event below.

The new Kawasaki Ninjas have a lot of power behind them but with a powerful bike there’s always people who like to do stunts on them. Check out this guy below trying to do a burn out while standing in front of the bike. The end result is a pretty funny one.

We see motorcycle races and crashes all the time but recently something pretty random happened causing moto racer, Maxime Berger, to crash. If you check out the picture above you can see that the all of the spokes on the rim are broken. This actually happened during the race causing the rear wheel to fall off. Generally when we hear the name Mansory we think of all the different customizations that they have made on cars. Well as their latest creation we can see them go to work on a motorcycle. This is the Zapico motorcycle and is a one of one created for one of their customers. The styling looks amazing and as for power, we can see a 160HP 2.0L V12 which gives this bike a 0-62 time of 3.3 seconds. I’m sure by now many of you have already seen the trailers to Tron: Legacy as well as the Cycles featured in the film. A Florida bike shop, Parker Brothers Choppers, actually built a street legal version of the Cycle and are selling it for $55,000. For the engine it features a Suzuki TLR 1000 and the stopping power comes from a custom made friction drum.

Although I think the concept is pretty cool as far as comfort in riding or the handling of the bike I feel like the purchase would be mainly for show. One of the people who have ridden it stated that it rides like any sport bike but I would still have to ride it to see how true that is. We saw many new car models as well as announcements at this weeks Los Angeles Auto Show and one of those big announcements is that AMG, Mercedes performance division, would be cooperating with Ducati. According to the deal that was made AMG will be the official car partner for Ducati’s MotoGP team in 2011. At events held by both companies you will be able to test drive both Mercedes cars as well as Ducati’s motorcycles. Usually we don’t see too many new motorcycle models coming from Ducati but they have been working on the Diavel for some time now and it will finally make its debut at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milan next month.

No specs have yet to be released but we know it will be a powerful bike as not only is it made from Ducati but it will feature a Testastretta 11 engine and will weigh in at only 207 kg which is only 456 lbs. Unfortunately all we have is the one teaser picture above but we will keep you updated as we receive some more images.
